Meet Our Seal Training Staff - Chris & Jenna

We are stoked to have Chris lead our Seal Training program this summer. His qualifications and life experience align with our values and he has so much to offer the kids this summer at Surfside. He will also be joining us at the bay during the afternoons.

Chris grew up in NorCal with a love for the ocean and surfing. His favorite surf spots are Pacifica, Santa Cruz and Capitola!

Chris served in the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines, Desert Storm & Somalia. His nickname was “Schools” and at Aqualand Headquarters, we like to call him “Sergeant Schools”.

After his service, Chris then worked as an Elementary School Physical Education teacher for 13 years as well as coaching soccer, baseball and football for over 15 years. He loves helping kids grow in health and physical fitness and especially in boosting their self-confidence!

Matty & Chris have been working on Lesson Plans and it’s going to be epic! Campers will work on weekly themes like: Honor, Courage, Team Ethics and Way of The Warrior mindset.

When we first created the Seal Training program, with the intent to prepare younger kids for junior guards, Jenna was the first person we asked to be a part of it. Jenna is a mom of 4 who has excelled in aquatics her whole life. She swam and played water polo in high school and college before getting her degree in kinesiology/exercise science from CSULB. She has been an ocean lifeguard and EMT, teaching both Junior Guards and Basic Life Support/CPR.

Shout out to Jenna for certifying our interns and staff this Spring!

Jenna is not only an outstanding mother and person, she also has some pretty cool achievements like rowing from Catalina, completing the Mega Colossus lifeguard race and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro! She’s organized too, serving as the president at her co-op preschool for 3 years.

When Jenna’s not at Aqualand, she loves being outdoors with her family and homeschooling her kids.

How lucky are we to have Jenna?! And Chris? #blessed

Now, we just need to work on Jenna’s nickname…
