Who is Sergeant Schools?

Meet Chris Schooley – Aqualand’s Seal Training Lead

Chris Schooley, or “Sergeant Schools” as we like to call him at Aqualand, brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for both fitness and personal development. Growing up in Northern California, Chris developed a love for the ocean and surfing, spending time at his favorite surf spots in Pacifica, Santa Cruz, and Capitola.

After serving in the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines during Desert Storm and Somalia, Chris transitioned to teaching, working as an Elementary School Physical Education teacher for 13 years. He also dedicated over 15 years to coaching soccer, baseball, and football, where he honed his skills in helping children grow stronger, healthier, and more confident.

Now at Aqualand, Chris brings his love for teamwork, physical fitness, and positive mentorship to Seal Training, where campers focus on ocean safety, ocean independence, and developing the confidence of a true waterman. With an emphasis on junior lifeguard prep, Chris works with campers on key skills that help build confidence both in and out of the water. Through engaging activities, they learn valuable lessons in Honor, Courage, Team Ethics, and the Way of The Warrior mindset. Chris says, “My favorite part of leading Seal Training is developing a positive mindset & turning the “I can’t” into an “I did it!” The smiles are a 1000 words!”

Together with Matty, Chris has crafted lesson plans that are sure to inspire and transform campers into Seal Pups ready to take on the water and life’s challenges with strength and poise.

At Aqualand, we’re proud to have Chris Schooley as our Seal Training Lead, guiding the next generation of watermen to success!
